Elikia Care Services’ Shared Living Program provides home-based services to adults (older than 18) with developmental disabilities. This program is ideal for individuals who are not able to live independently. As an alternative to group home living, we match the person with a disability with provider families who provide stable support systems and natural family environments. Doing so will foster relationship-building and community inclusion. Eligible providers for shared living will help adults with IDDs lead fulfilling and active lives as these providers welcome them into their homes. Shared living providers are independent contractors who receive a generous stipend and are part of a team that offers assistance in the following areas:
- Education
- Employment
- Family Inclusion
- Health Management
- Skill Building (for Independent Living)
These providers may be an individual, a couple, or a family. They also provide training, supervision, and 24/7 emergency on-call support. To become an eligible provider, the person must at least meet the following criteria:
- 21 years old
- In a healthy physical and mental state
- Possess creativity and flexibility to support an individual with special needs
- Willing to collaborate and work with other providers
- Open to undergoing training and background checks
- Have experience working with individuals with IDDs (but not required)
